Save and Re-Pave River Road
Ironman Foundation Charity Program Available to Make a Difference Locally
The Ironman Foundation has charity program entries available for the Ironman U.S. Championship event. These entries have been set aside to make a difference locally to support the cycling and triathlete community in the greater New York City and Northern New Jersey Area.
The Ironman Foundation will be partnering with the Palisades Park Commission, to assist in funding the re-paving of Alpine Hill, the most popular cycling training climb in the NYC area. New Jersey’s Henry Hudson Drive, also known as River Road, is one of the most popular routes for New York City/NJ cyclists looking to escape the crowds and congestion of the metropolitan area. Enjoyed by thousands on any given weekend, the road has fallen into unfortunate disrepair, posing a danger to every rider who climbs Alpine Hill at River Road’s end. However, the cracks and potholes along the road are easily remedied by simple repaving. An investment in resurfacing the Alpine Hill portion road— the most popular segment– would last over fifteen years and would be a generous boon to all who ride upon it, whether visiting every weekend or there for the first time.
By purchasing one of these entries, you can make a difference in the cycling and triathlon community in the greater NYC/NJ areas. Athl
etes will receive an exclusive cycling kit commemorating their contribution to the Ironman Foundation and the Save and Re-Pave initiative and an invite to the grand re-opening of the road. Why not make a difference and support this great initiative? For more information and to register, click here.

Catalog for Giving
The Catalog for Giving is a nonprofit organizations dedicated to transforming the lives of New York City children by identifying and providing crucial funding and operational support to innovative community-based start-up organizations that assist disadvantaged youth throughout the City.
The Catalog’s supporters are generous individuals, who care about young people in our own community, and want to invest in smaller organizations, but may not know which ones are the best. Because its Board of Directors funds all operating expenses, The Catalog makes a unique and inspiring promise: 100 percent of all funds raised from donors (including the funds raised by Ironman competitors) are given to the member organizations. Donors may direct their contributions to specific member organizations, or apply it to all the groups. All contributions above the cost of entry are tax deductible. We have a low suggested fundraising minimum and you may also choose to select the organization you wish to support with your efforts.
To obtain information about joining The Catalog for Giving’s 2012 Ironman® US World Championships team, please contact Rachel Hill, Development Manager at 212-765-8212 or rhill@cfgnyc.org. To download a registration form, visit http://www.cfgnyc.org/events/2012-ironman-championship-team.
Robin Hood
Robin Hood is the largest private poverty-fighting organization in New York City. We find, fund and cultivate programs that have shown th
ey are an effective remedy to poverty. In our 23-year history, we’ve distributed over $1 billion and helped millions of our neighbors.
We only fund programs that can conclusively prove they are being effective and generating measurable results. Why? Because every misspent dollar is a missed opportunity to help low-income New Yorkers. We work closely with the organizations we support to help them to be more effective, enabling them to assist even more people. A rigorous system of metrics and third-party evaluation of these groups guarantee accountability. Since Robin Hood’s board pays all administrative costs, 100 percent of donations goes directly to helping families build better lives.
In 2010, Robin Hood invested $132 million in 2
00 programs and schools, helping over 650,000 New Yorkers. In 2011, expect Robin Hood to be there, once again, targeting poverty in New York City, taking from those rich in compassion and giving to the poor. To learn more about the programs we support visit us at www.Robinhood.org
